Conference In Vancouver April 15th 2024

Kenny Spence

The 1st Canadian International Conference For Men in Early Years and Fathers and Caring. A Man For All Reasons

There is a global classroom staffing crisis in early childhood education! A world-wide crisis requires a global conversation to resolve… Please consider joining this international panel of early childhood experts as the discuss an often-overlooked staffing resource: male early educators.

The Men in Early Childhood Working Group has been together for more nearly two decades representing ECE programs in Scotland, Canada, England, Wales, New Zealand, Australia, Malaysia, Africa, Norway, Poland, the Netherlands and the U.S.A.

On April 15, 2024 we will be hosting a Summit to discuss the strategies and solutions that have worked for us as we have supported the recruitment and retention of high- quality males entering the ECE workforce. We have intentionally kept the registration fee as low as possible ($100 USD) to encourage as many practitioners and supporters as possible to join us in Vancouver. Breaks and lunch are included in the registration fee! Follow the link below to register and to view the program and information about the presenters.

Men Care Too

Welcome to MenCare2.

We aim to support the increase of participation for men in the life of children.

In the US and UK, over 50% of marriages end in divorce, and within two years of separation two out of three of the children of these divorces no longer see their father.

In early years women outnumber men by 98%. In schools the figures for men involved in childrens education is also low.

We intend to show some of the best examples of practice on this website and to provide support for individuals and organisations.

Gender Equality Duty

In the UK it is acknowledged that childcare is one of the highest gender segregated occupations and requires local authorities under the Gender Equality Duty to report on how they are addressing this.

At MenCare2 we will campaign for the effective implementation of this policy.
